Cost of Treatment

One of the biggest concerns that people looking for substance abuse treatment is the cost of treatment. Worries such as “what if I can’t afford it” or “how will I pay” should not be a reason to avoid seeking treatment and recovery. At Serenity Treatment Center of Lousiana, we will review with you costs, ways to pay, insurance coverage, and other resources that you may be eligible for. The most important thing is to get you healthy and free of addiction.

You’ll see just how much more affordable treatment is than continuing your addiction. Whatever the cost of treatment it will always be less than the cost of an untreated substance abuse disorder.

There are some measurable costs that addictions can cause such as

  • Loss of income or livelihood
  • Cost of legal problems
  • Cost of health problems

And there are costs that are significant and harder to quantify but cost you as well such as:

  • Damaged relationships with the people you love- family, spouses/romantic partners, and friends
  • Missed opportunities such as further education, jobs, and travel
  • Reputational damage
  • Time wasted that produces no benefit to you
  • And frighteningly,  without treatment, premature death.

If your life is less rich in even one of these ways because of a substance use disorder, you’ve already paid too much. Your freedom from addiction will always be worth the price.

Here is where our trusted and knowledgeable admissions staff will help. They will walk you through our various treatment services and programs and related costs. They will provide details as to your individualized treatment and what may be covered by insurance and what may be out of pocket expenses.

Residential treatment includes lodging, meals, medical oversight and treatment options such as individual treatment, group therapy, and nutrition therapy, while our intensive outpatient program is designed for clients who has completed our residential treatment program and offer treatment options as well as medical oversight.

What is involved cost wise for you will be worked out with our admissions staff.

Many individuals use their health insurance to cover the cost of substance abuse treatment. Under the Affordable Care Act (ACA) in the United States, insurance plans are required to provide coverage for substance abuse treatment services as an essential health benefit. Coverage may vary depending on the insurance plan, so together we will check with your insurance provider about the specific services covered and any out-of-pocket expenses.

Medicaid or State-Funded Programs offer resources you may be eligible for. Medicaid is a government program that provides health coverage to low-income individuals. Some state-funded programs also offer financial assistance for substance abuse treatment. We can explore those options.

Some employers offer Employee Assistance Programs (EAPs) that can provide financial assistance or referrals for substance abuse treatment. These programs are designed to support employees facing personal challenges, including addiction.

Some individuals choose to pay for treatment out of pocket (private pay). This may involve using personal savings, funds from family or friends, or selling assets to cover the costs.

Our goal is to find solutions to allow you to afford treatment. You will need to make finding these solutions a priority as well. We will provide free health insurance verification and maximize treatment options, so you receive the best treatment services covered by your insurance.

If we can offer payment plans, that will also be discussed. We will accept a generous range of financing options such as credit cards and health care credit cards. Personal loans, home equity loans, and specialized loan services are sources you may want to investigate. Ideally, we want as much of the cost paid by insurance and such options and less by private payment. But remember that you are investing in your future and that is what is important.

The bottom line is that you or a loved one should not be deprived of a healthy addiction-free future simply because you think you can’t afford treatment. Please talk to one of our admissions counselors before you decide and let’s see what we can do.

Many treatment programs have internal funding options to help people afford treatment. Essentially, these are things like payment plans or even scholarships for people with special conditions. The only way to know for sure if these internal programs exist or that you qualify is to ask the program management directly. They are often not advertised well outside of the program and are reserved for people who genuinely need assistance paying for treatment. If you are concerned that you won’t be able to pay for treatment, then make it a priority to ask before deciding that you can’t afford it.
