Inpatient Substance Abuse

When we talk about substance abuse, we are talking about the excessive use of a drug in a way that is harmful to you. Harmful in the sense that you are physically affected with ill effects on your health and well-being. You develop a dependence on the drug both physically and psychologically. Substance abuse is also detrimental because it harms your relationship with others and makes it difficult for you to participate positively in society.

According to Clinical Methods: The History, Physical, and Laboratory Examinations. 3rd edition, Chapter 206 Substance Abuse, long-term use of a drug leads to “an altered physiologic state in which withdrawal symptoms develop when the drug is discontinued.” Furthermore, “psychological dependence refers to a state of intense need to continue taking a drug in the absence of physical dependence.” What this ultimately means is substance abuse leads to a physical and psychological dependence that, without help, may be nearly impossible to break free of. At Serenity Treatment Center of Louisiana, we are dedicated to helping our patients in the treatment of their substance abuse and regaining their health, independence, and social relationships.

According to the 2020 National Survey on Drug Use and Health (NSDUH), 40.3 million Americans, aged 12 or older, had a substance use disorder (SUD) in the past year. SUDs continue to be a concerning health issue in our country.

Our inpatient treatment (Residential Treatment Programs) begins with a stay in our facility with housing and meals provided in addition to the treatment for the substance abuse disorder.

By residing on campus, our clients can focus solely on recovery. For the time they are with us, they are separated from their home life, work, and social lives. The 30-day Residential Stay’s emphasis is on the addiction to the drug and/or alcohol and learning ways to address the disorder. We also focus on finding solutions for families that must recover together.

Our Residential Treatment Program is an addiction recovery program designed to help you start your recovery and give you the tools to help you stay sober for the rest of your life.

It is a comprehensive treatment program that combines medical and mental health practices to get you off your addiction and shows you how to stay off it over the long term.

Our program gives you 30 days of treatment in our facility where you won’t be tempted by the things that trigger your addiction. While you are here, every day is filled with activities that address the different parts of your addiction in different ways. Our program includes:

When you start the program, our caring staff help you develop a schedule of treatment. By participating in different treatment options, you are giving yourself the best chance for success. Addictions are multifaceted problems, and it takes a multifaceted solution to make real progress.

The Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities (CARF) is one of the most trusted accreditation organizations for addiction treatment facilities, and our residential treatment program is accredited by CARF.
