After more than a decade of unwavering dedication, leadership, and heart, Serenity Treatment Center of Louisiana bids a heartfelt farewell to a truly extraordinary leader—Dionese Barnard Gerbrecht.
Since the very beginning in 2014, Dionese has been more than an employee; she has been a cornerstone of Serenity’s foundation. Her journey reflects not only professional growth, but a deep and abiding commitment to the mission of healing and hope that defines this organization.
Dionese began her career as a Behavioral Health Technician, where her compassion for patients was evident from day one. It wasn’t long before her talents and dedication led her to the front desk—a role that would become the heartbeat of the facility. From coordinating patient care and transportation to managing admissions and discharges, she helped create a space where every individual who walked through the doors felt seen, supported, and valued. That desk became more than a workstation—it became the center of connection for staff and patients alike.
As Serenity grew, so did Dionese’s impact. She played a pivotal role in establishing the Admissions Coordinator position, serving in that capacity for several years. During this time, she earned her CIT license, expanding her ability to serve clients directly through counseling and recovery classes. For Dionese, this work was never just a responsibility—it was a calling. The lives she touched during this time remain a testament to her empathy, strength, and belief in the power of recovery.
Her leadership continued to evolve as she took on responsibilities in compliance and administrative operations, helping guide Serenity through periods of growth and change. When the organization transitioned in ownership, Dionese’s integrity and dedication made her the natural choice for Administrator—a role she held with distinction for seven years.
As Administrator, Dionese’s vision and determination transformed Serenity in countless ways. She worked tirelessly to streamline policies and procedures, strengthen operations, and oversee significant physical improvements to the facilities. From remodeling projects and roofing upgrades to enhancing parking and infrastructure, her attention to detail and commitment to excellence left a lasting mark on every corner of the organization.
Among her many accomplishments, several stand out as defining achievements. Dionese helped lead the expansion of the Intensive Outpatient Program, including the development and full renovation of a dedicated building designed to better serve clients. She also recognized the growing need for accessible care and expanded the transportation department, ensuring that more individuals could reach the help they needed.
Perhaps most remarkable was her leadership in restoring the 48-bed residential facility. What was once a property in disrepair became, through vision and teamwork, a fully renovated and licensed treatment center within a single year. This achievement reflects not only operational excellence, but a deep commitment to providing safe, high-quality care for those in need.
But beyond the titles, projects, and accomplishments, Dionese’s true legacy lies in the people she has inspired. She has been a mentor, a steady presence, and a source of encouragement for countless colleagues. She has led with grace, worked with purpose, and given of herself in ways that cannot be measured.
As she steps into retirement, Dionese leaves behind more than a career—she leaves behind a legacy of compassion, resilience, and transformative impact. Serenity Treatment Center of Louisiana is stronger, more capable, and more compassionate because of her.
While her daily presence will be deeply missed, her influence will continue to be felt in every life touched and every success achieved within these walls.
With gratitude, admiration, and heartfelt appreciation, we celebrate Dionese Barnard Gerbrecht—a leader, a healer, and a lasting light in the story of Serenity.
Congratulations on your retirement, Dionese. You have truly made a difference.
